Over 19 years ago, Hanna's Candle Company began as Hanna's Potpourri Specialties with two full-time employees and one part-time. In 1992, founder Burt Hanna began experimenting in the candle business. With ten pounds of canning wax from a local grocery store, Burt made his first candle samples for the Dallas gift show. Candles took off similarly to the potpourri business, and Hanna's has grown to become one of the largest candle companies in the United States. Hanna's is also one of the first companies to introduce soy candles into the mass market, and is one of the leading manufacturers of soy candles. In 2004 Hanna's Candle Company entered into an agreement with Kathy Ireland Worldwide, the design and marketing company founded by Lifestyle Designer Kathy Ireland for the manufacture of wax and soy candles as well as potpourri, fragrance sprays, diffusers and other home fragrance products. Today, the company has 350+ employees, and the plant has grown from the family garage to just over one million square feet in manufacturing.

Kathy Ireland first made a name for herself as a highly successful model. In 1993 she founded Kathy Ireland Worldwide, starting with designer socks. This wife, mother of two, and CEO has become one of the most trusted names in family home furnishings. Her mission: "...finding solutions for families, especially busy moms."
