The votives of Anna Ehrner’s Blue Moon and Cool Moon series are inspired by the ‘parison’, the lump of hot glass on the end of the glassblower’s pipe. (The parison, says Anna, is the heart and soul of all blown glass.) Blue Moon, the dark phase, Cool Moon the full phase of the moon, are in Anna’s words, “crystal globular lanterns with poetic layers of color floating in them: Blue Moon shimmers with shades of blue, Cool Moon with smoky white.” Each crystal Moon is one of a kind. Popular with collectors, perfect as gifts.

DESIGNER ANNA EHRNER
Anna Ehrner joined Kosta Boda in 1974 following graduation from the National College Arts, Crafts and Design in her hometown, Stockholm. Specializing in ceramics in college, Anna learned the art of glass design and production by doing. In 1979, she took leave to study at the celebrated Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington. She was also the director of the glass design program at her alma mater from 1985-1989, and taught there from 1992-1995.
An experimental stylist who works in many techniques, Anna creates pieces distinguished by simple, powerful forms and her great skill in using color to create shimmering effects. Swirling veils of color within the glass, in fact, are something of an Anna Ehrner signature. Anna has created some of Kosta Boda’s most successful and collectible lines, including her Atoll series of bowls and the elegant Line glassware series.
