It sits on a wall in my dining room, which is formal. It is open to accomodate my laptop, however, when the room is in use with guests, I can close the laptop and close the drop front panel. It really is handy and attractive. I am sure to continue to use this desk in other areas of my home and future homes.

I have been looking for a while for an "office" desk. I work from home and needed something to hold all my files, office supplies, and books as well as a place from which I could work with a laptop - all things you would find in a typical office, the one catch was that because my apartment is far from spacious - and I hate clutter- I needed all this to come in a compact and attractive package. This piece fit the bill perfectly! It more than met my expectations and is also a conversation piece because of its hand-carved beauty. It is so compact and really even smaller than I expected, but it is amazing the storage that this little secretary has. The design is not only beautiful but really quite practical. My only small problem is that it appears that when the furniture was being stained, the stain dripped and it dried on, so that mars the beauty of the piece. I guess I could have returned it but to avoid the hassle I kept it. Otherwise I would have given this 5 stars.

I love this desk. It's perfect for my small condo. It allows me to toggle seamlessly between laptop desk (when open) and elegant conversation piece (when closed). I use the open area on top sans the mail slots so that I can use the open space for laptop storage when I am not working. This piece went from great to perfect once I added easy-slide pads on the bottom of the legs.

A perfect fit for our telephone, bills, stamps, etc. It is much darker than what is pictured more like a dark cherry (I would have preferred much lighter as depicted), but it is so compartmentalized and compact. So much for such a "little" secretary. My husband and I are delighted. Packaging was the best I've ever seen. We highly recommend this product.

I was happily surprised of how well the desk was put together. Space is efficient and even. The carvings are ornate and beautiful. It does lack a security drawer but otherwise this is a perfect desk for writing.

I am enjoying my new desk as it is perfect for the area I have chosen for it. I purchased it beause of the rich details of the wood, the small but adequate storage in it and the fact that I can pull down the drop leaf desk and write on it. The fact that it has compartments for storing mail, stamps and other daily needs is a added bonus. I have received many complements on it and will enjoy its many features for many years to come.
