It appears the seams are coming undone on the top of the table. It does not have much weight on it either.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Attractive, easy to assemble, but after about a week in my living room the top split open (as if someone had dragged a utility knife across half of it). The split was NOT at an obvious joint so I was quite surprised. I can cover it with a dresser scarf, but I'm waiting for the rest of the unit to fail at some point.

I cannot recommend this product unless price is your absolute driver and you can live with splitting wood.
